Automatic Transmissions:Automactic Transmissions in general require servicing every 12 months or 20,000 Klms. dependant on the operation of the vehicle. The high cost of major repairs of modern electronic transmissions means that neglecting sevicing could be very exspensive. With the necessity of expensive equipment such as scan tools and the need for highly trained technicians it is best to have a transmission specialist check and advise of any service or maintenance work nesessary.
Four Wheel Drive Vehicles: Great advances in technology have certainly been made available in these vehicles. All wheel drive, automatic freewheeling hubs, and diff. locks have all added to the complexity of these vehicles. Electronics, vacuum and hydraulic operation are now intergrated through computers so you only have to push a button to gain many facets of the drive train operation. Simply checking for oil leaks and changing the oils no longer applies. A full check of the entire system is a much preffered option. We suggest servicing every 12 months or 20,000Klms. Phone or E mail for more information or call in for a free road test.
MANUAL GEARBOXES: Manual gearbox servicing is now a very important part of vehicle servicing.Modern manual gearboxes use a vast array of complex lubricating oils - mineral and synthetic. Simply changing the oils in any gearbox and refilling with the wrong oil could result in an expensive repair or at least the gearbox will not perform efficiently or will not give a long service life. Any leaks or strange noises need to be investigated straight away to avoid the risk of failure. Phone or E mail for more information or call in for a free road test.
CLUTCHES:The modern motor vehicle clutch is argueably the hardest working part of a vehicles drive chain. A clutch that is not operating correctly can raise fuel consumption and give poor vehicle performance. Damage to the gearbox and differential could also be the result of poor clutch operation. Most modern motor vehicles clutch operations are in theory non adjustable. Although ther are other important considerations. There are many moving parts between the drivers foot and the clutch drive plate. Clutch pedal bushes and adjustment ( if applicable ), master cylinder leaks, slave cylinder leaks, condition of hydraulic oil, secure and uninterrupted run of connecting pipes. Clutch cable condition and lubrication are critical for a smooth clutch operation. Clutch release arm and pivot points must be free from wear. All the above need to be in good order for a long and reliable service from the clutch unit. Phone or E mail for more information or call in for a free road test.
