Pink Slip
A pink slip is a safety inspection on your vehicle usually required annually for registration purposes. All states and territories in Australia have a vehicle inspection system in place but not all refer to the process as pink slips. In general, a pink slip checks that your car is roadworthy and safe to travel on the road. A blue slip is similar to a pink slip - however involves a more in depth inspection of your vehicle.
During a vehicle inspection, a qualified inspector will check details such as the correct operation of the brakes, condition of the tyres, the lights and indicators on the vehicle, windscreen or any other vision impairments, and any other parts that may impede correct and safe operation of the vehicle. In many cases, any problems can be remedied at the time of the inspection.
Not all vehicles require a pink slip or inspection, and often new cars or vehicles only a couple of years old do not require a pink slip. Usually, your motoring authority will inform you if your vehicle requires an inspection with your rego notice. There are many authorised pink slip inspection agents, including general motor mechanics, that you can contact today about your pink slip.
