Car Battery
A car battery powers your vehicle's starter motor, lights and ignition system. A car will not run without a battery, and normal use of your vehicle keeps your car battery charged. While a good battery will last several years, eventually their effectiveness will reduce and you will have to buy a car battery.
There are several different types of car batteries, and the most common is lead-acid car batteries. These sometimes contain liquid (flooded-cell type), but you may also purchase AGM (Absorbed Glass Matt) type batteries that do not rely on liquid. These batteries are best used to provide short bursts of energy.
If you are experiencing problems with your batteries charge and the battery is fairly new (less than 2 years old), it may be an issue with your car's alternator in which case you need an Auto Electrician and unless an the actual repair is needed, the test is usually free.
Car Batteries are also used for other uses, such as recreational use, powering lights, camping equipment, caravans and similar slow-use situations, a deep-cycle battery is more suitable. These batteries are constructed differently and are designed to provide slow release and improved charge cycles, and in some cases, you can use a deep-cycle battery as a starting battery but there are limitations on its use.
Some applications require the use of a dual-battery system, especially during long distance or outback touring. They can also be useful for recreational travellers with caravans or other equipment such as golf buggies. Speak to a specialist to find out more about your car battery.
